Logbook: sea-service profile

Your sea service, on one link.

Sometimes you want to show your sea time, not send a spreadsheet: to a crew agent, a new captain, or the crew group. Bridgedeck Logbook can publish a simple web page with your headline figures. It is off until you turn it on, and it never shows which vessels you sailed on.

Checked against the sources listed below on 29 October 2026. Bridgedeck is independent and not affiliated with the MCA.

What it is

What is the public sea-service profile?

An opt-in web page on bridgedeck.app, at your own link under /crew/, that shows the headline numbers from your logbook. In the app's words, it is “a shareable web page with your headline sea time. No vessel names, ever.”

What does my profile show?

Your name (or only your initials, if you prefer), your rank and the year you went to sea. Then your sea days, days aboard, nautical miles, voyages and number of vessels, and your sea days split by tonnage class: under 200 GT, under 500 GT, under 3,000 GT and unlimited.

What does it never show?

Vessel names, IMO numbers, ports or dates. The page shows totals only, and it says on it that the figures are self-declared sea time shared by their owner.

Turning it on and off

How do I create my profile link?

In the app's Profile tab, turn on Public sea-service profile. The app creates your link, and Share profile link sends it through your phone's share sheet.

Can I hide my name?

Yes. Turn on Show initials only and the page shows your initials instead of your name.

What happens when I turn it off?

The link stops working: the page is no longer there for anyone who opens it. Your logbook isn't affected. If you turn it back on later, you get a new link; the old one stays dead.

Will my profile show up on Google?

The page asks search engines not to index it, so it is meant to be reached by people you give the link to. Anyone who has the link can open it while it's switched on.

What it is, and isn't, for

Is the profile proof of my sea time?

No. It shows what you logged; nobody has verified it, and the page says so. For a Certificate of Competency, the MCA counts sea service from signed testimonials and discharge records, not from an app or a web page.

Our view: use the profile to show your experience at a glance, and your testimonials to prove it.

When does the profile update?

As it works today, the page reads your backed-up logbook, so new sea time appears once the app has synced.

Cost and devices

Which devices can I turn it on from?

The Bridgedeck Logbook app on iPhone and iPad (iOS 15 or later) or Android, and a Mac version (macOS 10.15 or later). The profile itself is an ordinary web page, so whoever you send it to doesn't need the app.

Is Bridgedeck Logbook free?

Free up to 100 sea days; Bridgedeck Pro, an optional paid subscription, unlocks unlimited logging after that. Your existing records are always free to view and export.
